Another year, another Solstice in Times Square Athleta Mind Over Madness Yoga for me! For the second year, I had the opportunity to co-host this incredible day of yoga with 8 classes and 8,000 yogis and yoginis. Although I wasn’t actually on the mat or offering a teaching practice this year, I was working hard in front of and behind the scenes along with my co-hosts Amy Pearce-Hayden and event co-founder and Times Square Alliance President Tim Tompkins and my “family” at the Times Square Alliance and Livestream to bring this event to webcast viewers around the globe.
That said, 19-hours later, I (Or, should say “we” because my personal bytracye paparazzi Bruce hung in there with me. I heart Bruce!) I was an exhausted yogini with an endless smile. You see, I continue to realize that through the practice of yoga and the journey that comes with it, I’m able to explore all of my passions, live my life to the fullest, and serve a whole bunch of folks along the way. So, what a great experience! It was a day filled with lots of cleansing breaths (to exhale the exhaust from the passing cars), big hugs from students and fellow teachers, about a million asanas, police sirens, smiles, a few unruly tourists, too much black coffee, unbelievably peaceful savasanas, a creepy costumed character or two, and the most resounding OMs you’ve ever heard. Yoga rocks! Can’t wait for next year!
