Fall was hanging on like a champ until just a couple of days ago when winter hit New York like a brick! Namaste winter.
If you’re like me and tend to bend more towards your fun in the sun, bikini, anywhere there is a beach or ocean, sandals, big sunglasses, stamp my passport I’ll be there, kind of yogi or yogini, then you might be feeling a little “meh” about the chilly season. I totally get it and realize how much easier it might be to just huddle up, hibernate, and hold out for spring. Yoga to the rescue!
Try these three poses to keep your mind, your body, and your spirit healthy and light this winter!
Matsyasana (Fish Pose -above) – This heart opener helps to stimulate blood flow and helps to pump up the immune system. Just say “No Thanks” to colds and flu!
Badda Konasana (Bound Angle Pose – Variation) – A great hip opener that stimulates circulation and relieves anxiety, mild depression and fatigue, among other things. Tip: Try lying on your back for an even more restorative pose. Prop pillows or blankets under knees if needed.
Halasana (Plow Pose) -Need to find a bit more calm in the midst of the blizzard storm? Try this pose. It calms the mind and body by reducing stress and fatigue. As well, it’s also great for backache, headache, and more.
